Club philosophy
St. Albert Gymnastics Club maintains a philosophy that gymnastics is, above all else, fun, while stressing skill development, fitness, safety and the fundamental discipline needed to achieve these objectives.
From the youngest recreational classes to the highest competitive levels, our coaches use a positive, encouraging approach at all times.
Mission
A safe, supportive and enjoyable environment for every member, following Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD).
Developing each child’s interest and ability while promoting sportsmanship, honesty, courage and respect.
Apprenticeship, in-service training and NCCP certification that develop local youth as coaches.
Our history
Started by a group of St. Albert parents, the club has grown from borrowed school gyms to its own facility.
Parents form the club, and SAGC is incorporated on October 9, 1975.
The club moves from school gyms into a leased 7,500 sq. ft. facility on Riel Drive.
Expansion adds a foam pit, and SAGC hosts gymnastics at the Alberta Winter Games.
The club purchases and renovates its current home at 2A Riel Drive.
Thank you
Thanks to the Government of Alberta’s Community Initiatives Program grant of $52,497 and the City of St. Albert’s grant of $50,594. Together with fundraising, casino and bingo funds, they helped purchase over $150,000 of new gymnastics equipment.
